VCI SpamWatch is a free email reduction service offered to our customers. This service is an opt-in service. This means you must activate this service on your email account in order for it to work for you. To activate SpamWatch on your account login to VCI WebMail at http://www.vci.net and click on the SpamWatch button at the top. Then select a Sensitivty level and click the "Change >>" button.

This service has been in operation for over a year. Our mail servers have detected hundreds of thousands of spam emails and stopped each one of them from entering our customer's mailboxes. By blocking these junk emails we are:
    1. Saving our customers the valuable time it takes to remove the junk emails.
    2. Protecting children from common junk emails that are advertising nudity, pornogrophy and such.
        Here's how it works.
    1. All emails and their attachments are checked for viruses when they arrive at the VCI mail servers by our VirusWatch service.
    2. The email is then given a rating. The rating is based on analyzing the header and body of the email.
    3. Next, the email is checked against the customer's SpamWatch profile. If the email exceeds the customer's spam threshold it is placed in the customers Spam folder. If not, it is placed in the customer's inbox.
    4. The Spam folder can be found in VCI WebMail. VCI WebMail is an alternate method of reading email. Diverting these emails to the SPAM folder allows our customers the ability to review their junk emails in case one of them was not supposed to be placed in the SPAM folder. When this happens the customer can move the email from the Spam folder to their INBOX so it can be retrieved by the POP3 email client (such as Outlook Express).

More information about spam email and how to reduce/prevent it can be found on our Spam Primer page. Or if you have questions about spam in general or VCI SpamWatch please feel free to contact VCI by calling (800) 755-1239 or (270) 442-0060. Or email us at admin@vci.net
