VirusWatch
VCI VirusWatch is a free email protection service offered to our customers. VCI started checking email for viruses over a year ago. Our mail servers have detected thousands of viruses and stopped each one of them from entering our customer's mailboxes. By blocking these viruses we:
- Save our customer's the valuable time it takes to remove a virus.
- Save our customer's data that could be destroyed.
- Save our customer's the embarassment caused when a virus is sent to a family member, friend, business contact, etc..
- Help stop these viruses from propagating around the internet.
Here's how it works. Our mail servers scan each incoming and outgoing email for viruses before new messages are deposited into your mailbox. If a virus is detected, the infected email is quarantined on the VCI mail server and a new email is sent to you. That new email consists of a message notifying you that a virus was detected and stopped. That email states who sent the email and the name of the virus(s). At the bottom are the headers of the original email. The sender of the virus infected email is not notified because modern viruses tend to fake the return email address with an innocent person's email address, resulting in false accusations.
VCI VirusWatch helps to ensure your email is protected against viruses. If you use an email account with someone like Hotmail or Yahoo you may not be protected. Our VirusWatch service checks incoming and outgoing email thru the VCI mail servers.
VCI VirusWatch just checks email for viruses. However, email is not the only way your computer can contract a virus. If you browse the web, download files, use messenger programs (such as ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Pager) or use peer-to-peer file sharing programs (such as Gnutella or Kazaa) your computer can still contract a virus. The only way to protect yourself is by installing an antivirus program such as Central Command, McAfee Antivirus, Symantec (Norton) Antivirus, Trend Micro, etc.. These programs normally have the ability to check every possible way a computer can become infected with a virus.
