SpamWatch

SpamWatch works like this:

- An email is delivered to a VCI mail server from another mail server on the internet.
- The VCI mail server scans the entire email and assigns a rating to that email. The rating is placed in the email as a "X-Spam-Level: " header.
- The rating is a number like 4.0 or 9.3 The higher the number, the more likely it is spam.
- If the rating exceeds your SpamWatch Sensitivity, as described below, the email is placed in your Spam folder. The emails in your Spam folder must be viewed and deleted from VCI WebMail.
- If the rating DOES NOT exceed your SpamWatch Sensitivity, as described below, the email is placed in your Inbox.
To activate SpamWatch on your VCI email account:
- Login to VCI WebMail at www.vci.net
- After you have logged into WebMail click on the SpamWatch button at the top-left.
- When you login to SpamWatch for the first time it will be disabled (inactive). To activate it select a Sensitivity level from the options on the right and click "Change >>" SpamWatch will be activated using the Sensitivity level you selected.
After SpamWatch has been activated there will be Rules at the bottom of the page allowing you to customize SpamWatch. These Rules allow you to override SpamWatch.
To allow an email from "newsletter@nowhere.com" to be placed in your Inbox:
- Ensure the top radio button is dotted on the left. A radio button looks like this
- Ensure the "From" option is selected.
- Type "newsletter@nowhere.com" in the next blank on the right.
- Ensure "Inbox" is selected.
- Click "Add >>" at the bottom.
