Helping The Lord Build
His Church
The heart and soul of Christianity is Christ, and
it was Christ and he alone who said anything about building a church. "And
I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build
my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18).
Trillions of words have been spoken by commentators about this verse. But
the fact remains, if we are going to "speak where the Bible speaks and
be silent where the Bible is silent," He was to build it, and that's reason
enough for the church to be His. Millions or religious institutions and
organizations have followed, "built" by some man or group of men. They
have planted, established, and otherwise caused to be brought about, these
religious institutions. And yet, it remains that Jesus said, "Every plant,
which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up" (Matt. 15:13).
Should we not be primarily interested in the church
that Jesus built?
Local Congregations
But, what about the local congregations? These are
here, none can deny, but we need to be careful and use Bible language teach
Bible thoughts.
