There are several metaphors
that are used by inspired writers to illustrate the people of God, the
saved ones in Christ Jesus. These could be sheep, building, bride, and,
Paul's favorite, body. Illustrations are never the basis or source of truth;
they only illustrate the truth. So body, according to Paul, illustrates
the relationship of saved ones to Christ, and their relationship to one
another.
