| The is the second section of the last installment of the House in the Woods series. For the first section, go here. |
| Inside, we've mostly done a lot of painting. We were missing some base molding for a long time. |
| During and after. |
| Back outside, I had to repair some rotted siding on several parts of the house before painting. It was particularly bad around the first floor central air unit. As is the case with most of the exterior trim work, it wasn't flashed correctly leading to much softness and decay.
Note the badminton racket. That was my wasp/carpenter bee repellent.
Note: Our full out war on those nasties has been pretty successful. This last year we've had NO carpenter bees and very few wasps. |
| After. |
| Windows. Ugh. Lots of windows. This picture was actually taken a few days ago. The windows have required a lot of labor reglazing (it was all falling out), repairing rotted wood, and fixing the problems that lead to the rot in the first place. I have fourteen windows done and eight to go. |
| Here is a side with finished windows. We're painting the storm window frames the same color as the trim which is turning out really well. |
| Remember this? |
| Painting the rail. |
| After. The front porch.
The trim color is a kind of off white. I think the official name is "Wool Skein" |
| Thanks for staying with us. Although is wraps up the House in the Woods series, we'll put up more pics from time to time in separate galleries. |
