The magazine was established in the summer of 2001 and has grown with each issue. It now sends out to enthusiasts in 8 countries. It's writers are a very diverse group from as many countries, all with one thing in common the love of a beautiful dog.
What does Decider mean? The magazine takes its name from Lord Decider, a prominent ancestor of today's Irish Red and White Setter. He was a field trial winner and also won merit certificates in the 1920's before the breed went into recession. In competition, especially Irish and British, a "decider" is the final quest at the highest level. There are no other magazines or newspapers called the Decider but there is a best selling novel from 1995 by Dick Francis called "Decider". It's about racehorses, and a plot to take their best racing venue down. The hero takes on the foes and has an exciting victory of good over evil. The surreal, stretched racer in our Irish Decider graphic is one of Jim Sheridan's dogs on the Irish moor.
